AFTER GEORGES HENRI ROUAULT (French, 1871 - 1958). Untitled, circa 1938, Impression included in the book titled "Passion" which was published in 1939 by Ambrose Vollard in an edition of 245 printed on Verge de Montval, comprised of 40 signed and numbered and 205 numbered copies, plus 25 copies HC. The plates were destroyed after printing. This particular print appeared at the top of page 39 at the start of the chapter entitled "Choeur" (Chorus). The text begins, "All mass graves are the dens of fury and restlessness." Initialed and dated in plate. There is a verso notation of its 1949 purchase in Paris. Framed. Not examined out of frame.
