BERNARD CRIS (Contemporary). Marie Antoinette on a Visit to Medellin, Oil on canvas in Fernando Botero's voluminous style. She is wearing a lavish, feathered headdress and an 18th-century-style gown (red and blue with a fur/ermine-trimmed cloak). The figure is dramatically juxtaposed against a simple, contemporary, South American-looking urban neighborhood, likely Medellin (Botero's hometown), characterized by the clustered, tiled-roof houses and a humble-looking street. The presence of the Colombian flag hanging on the left strongly anchors the scene to Botero's home country. Framed. - (excluding frame) 58" x 38 ΒΌ"
