ARTIST PROFILE: Jane A. Rankin (1945–2019) was an American sculptor best known for her bronze figurative work depicting children, capturing what she described as their naturalness and spontaneity. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, in 1945, she went on to live across North Carolina, New Jersey, Georgia, California, Turkey, Kansas, and Virginia before eventually settling in Monument, Colorado. She viewed her sculpture as a means of prompting reflection and evoking pleasant memories, believing that beauty plays an essential role in emotional and social well-being, and she frequently drew inspiration for her pieces from her own children and grandchildren.
