AMERICAN CHERRY TALL-CASE CLOCK WITH MASONIC ELEMENTS, BY SILAS HOADLEY OF PLYMOUTH,Early 19th century. Thirty-hour time and strike wooden works appear complete with Hoadley's signature ivory bushings. Wooden face signed "S. Hoadley Plymouth" with original polychrome and gilt painted decoration with Masonic scene in the arch. Dial with seconds and calendar subsidiary dials. Pendulum wire and "tin can" weights appear original. Scrolling broken-arch pediment hood, over arching glazed panel door; four spindle supports; cove-molded chamfered waist with serpentine molded-edge door; similarly chamfered base with serpentine apron and French flared feet - 87 3/4 in. x 18 3/4 in. x 10 3/4 in. Minor flaking of paint in center of dial. Clock has 3 finials; feet appear to be original; case has at least seven hair-line age cracks scattered from top to bottom and including sides.
