JOHN MARTIN (English, 1789 - 1854). Satan Observes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, 1826. Mezzotint published in 1825 by Septimus Prowett (English, circa 1820 - 1867) in London, UK. It is an illustration for John Milton's epic poem "Paradise Lost," which narrated the Creation and Fall of Adam and Eve, and spanned Heaven, Hell and Paradise, was a suitably epic undertaking to inspire some of John Martin's most important prints. Unframed. Note: The artwork is not glued down to a hard surface; it is mounted with hinges to a removable back board. - Image: 6 x 8 in; Sheet: 10.25 x 14.25 in
