INDONESIAN WEST SUMBA ISLAND INCISED BRONZE COMB,Early 20th century. Patinated polished metal or bronze ornamental comb (called Hai Kara Jangga) curved horizontally to a semi-circle. Traditionally, they have been worn by adult women high on the head, like a crown. On top, there is a variety of animal motifs which also appear in textile designs of hinggi which are prized cloths worn by Sumbanese male elite. Signs of usage.
