Patinated Kalabubu necklace, also known as a Nias Warrior Neck Ring, which holds a significant cultural and historical importance among the Nias people of North Sumatra, Indonesia. The Kalabubu is a powerful symbol of status and bravery, traditionally worn by Nias warriors who had proven their valor in battle. Historically these "Head-Hunter Necklace" was reserved for those who had successfully decapitated enemy tribesmen, earning it the popular name "head-hunter's necklace". These necklaces are typically crafted from polished discs of coconut shell strung onto a solid brass band. - Diameter: 10 inches.
