TROY DENTON. (American, born1949). Two Native American Warriors on Horseback, Oil on canvas. Composition after a painting by Howard Terpning titled "The Victors." The central focus is on two Native American men, likely warriors from a Plains tribe, mounted on horseback and moving forward. The warrior on the left is holding a large, round shield decorated with feathers and fringe, which rests on his horse's back. He appears observant and stoic. The warrior on the right is holding a lance or staff adorned with feathers and some form of banner or decoration. The background is composed of soft, muted earth tones and a heavy, overcast sky. Signed lower right. Unframed. - 36 x 48 inches
