ARTIST PROFILE: A distinguished painter and printmaker, Suzanne Hodes began her artistic journey in New York City before studying at Radcliffe College and Brandeis University. A pivotal summer in 1959 spent under the mentorship of Oskar Kokoschka in Salzburg deeply shaped her expressive style. After earning her MFA from Columbia University and a Fulbright scholarship to Paris, Hodes built a diverse body of work spanning portraits, cityscapes, and social commentary. Her mastery across mediums—from oils and watercolors to charcoal and monotype—is represented in prestigious collections such as the Fogg Art Museum and MoMA Library. Her recent memoir, Studio Days, offers a candid, richly illustrated look at the complexities of the creative life.
