ARTIST PROFILE: Born in 1927, Ted Seth Jacobs was a world-renowned artist and highly decorated figure who dedicated his life to the Representational Art Movement. He refined his early craft under the tutelage of F. V. DuMond from 1943 to 1947 and later became an influential educator, teaching thousands of students at the Art Students' League of New York, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and his own atelier in France. Notably, his international reach was solidified when six of his still-life works were selected for the State Department’s Art in the Embassies Program. In addition to his paintings, Jacobs authored several influential books, such as Light for the Artist and Drawing with an Open Mind. Although he passed away in France in April 2023, his work continued to be held in leading American collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Finch College Museum. His distinguished career featured numerous exhibitions at prestigious venues, including the Springfield Massachusetts Museum, the Walker Art Center, and solo shows at New York’s Wickersham Gallery.
