Ariadne's Thread, 1995
Oil on board
Neoclassical triptych, signed by the artist "Joyce" and dated 1995, unfolds across three distinct yet continuous panels to depict a mythological scene set against a coastal landscape. The left panel establishes the architectural framework with an arched entryway from which a mysterious hand emerges to hold a thin red thread. The center panel serves as the connective bridge of the composition. Lastly, the right panel focuses on a female figure who stands at the edge of the terrace, looking back toward the architectural structure while carefully winding or holding the other end of the red thread. Framed.
Length (all three panels): 66 inches; Height (including frame): 48.5 inches
