ARTIST PROFILE: Born in 1936, Eileen Toumanoff is an American photographer and artist whose work is held in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She received her education at The Chapin School and Bennington College before establishing her creative career. Toumanoff’s photographic style often includes still-life compositions, such as her notable untitled works featuring floral and botanical subjects. Beyond her own artistic practice, she was a prominent figure in the diplomatic and cultural circles of Washington, D.C., alongside her late husband, Vladimir Toumanoff, a distinguished Foreign Service officer. Together, they served as patrons and benefactors to various artistic institutions, contributing to the preservation and promotion of American art.
