EMILE MUNIER (French, 1810-1895). YOUNG GIRL HOLDING A WHITE DOVE, signed and dated 1886 lower right. Oil on canvas - 20 1/2 in. x 15 3/4 in.

Munier studied under William Bouguereau whose influence is apparent in his work. He exhibited to wide acclaim at the Paris Salon for twenty five years from 1869 until 1895. He was awarded a medal in 1882 for his painting " La Source". Munier is also renowned for painting important Galle glass vases of the period. Provenance: The Collection of Laura Soto, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
