LATE FEDERAL EGLOMISE AND PARCEL-GILT DECORATED MAHOGANY BANJO CLOCK, early 19th century, inscribed A. Willard, Jr., Boston. Spread eagle on ball finial above circular glazed and hinged cover enclosing signed enamel dial with Roman numerals. Narrow graduating mid-section panel with eglomise eagle-and-shield motif above rectangular lower panel having similarly painted spread-wing eagle and shield above naval battle scene between English and American vessels, the Wasp and the Reindeer; fluted gilt bracket with ball pendants and stylized acorn drop. - 40 in. x 10 1/2 in. x 4 in.

Clock shows normal wear throughout, chipping around screws of face, Reverse painting shows flaking, gilt looks refreshed, and lower bracket is new.
