GREEK BRONZE OINOCHOE,circa 4th-5th centuries B.C. With large trefoil spout, attached bronze handle with lion's mask at spout and lion's paw at base. - 6 5/8 in. high. Estimate $1,600-1,800
PROVENANCE: Ex-private Colorado Collection.
Condition appears excellent but X-Ray photos show that the body has been stabilized with almost no new added material (less than 2%), handle is possibly not original (however, it is clearly ancient and was purportedly found with this piece, although detached). Vessel needs tiny "shim" under one side to stand upright.
