ROBERT FURBER, The Flower Garden Display'd in Above Four Hundred Curious Representations of the Most Beautiful Flowers. Second Edition, London: R. Montagu, J. Brindley and C. Corbett, 1734. 4to. The Twelve Months of Flowers and frontispiece engraved by James Smith after Pieter Casteels with later hand coloring, each framed, the text remaining bound in full brown calf, spine off. The Twelve Months of Fowers were first published in folio in 1730 by Robert Furber, nurseryman, in collaboration with Pieter Casteels and Henry Fletcher, engraver, as a horticultural catalogue for Furber's nursery and to be sold by subscription. Its success inspired a version in quarto, of which this is the second edition - 8 7/8 x 5 1/2 in., plate size, each plate.
