Sale 27 Lot 1340

ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL INLAID THREE-DRAWER COMMODE, Late 18th/ Early 19th century. Rectangular molded-edge top with central floral medallion surrounded by laurel-leaf border over three graduating long drawers; square tapering legs. - 36 in. x 50 1/2 in. x 22 1/2 in.
Estimate $1,800-2,500

Movement of the undercore has resulted in veneer buckling, seen mostly on the top and to a lesser degree to the sides as well. Restoration to veneer; small losses (one to lower drawer and one to proper left side); well worn hardware. Otherwise the piece remains in very good condition.

A careful restoration was seen in the replacement of drawer bottoms and runners. Other restorative efforts were seen in the interior case (back and sides). The rear leg was possibly reattached as well. Minor worm damage.

Sold for $7,500
