DANIEL HUNTINGTON, N.A. (American, 1816-1906). PORTRAIT OF A LADY, dated New York 1852 lower left. Charcoal and white chalk with pink wash on heavy paper - Oval: 23 1/4 in. x 19 in.

work is charcoal and white chalk with pink wash on heavy paper. Paper is darkened by contact with acidic backing, somewhat darker near edges of work. 7 inch horizontal tear near bottom edge repaired with cellophane tape. 1 1/2 inch repaired tears (with cellophane tape) near top center edge, at upper right edge and at lower left edge. Few small scattered dots of white paint (?) in face, hair, to left of head and near lower right. Edge of paper is unevenly trimmed.
