ITALIAN ROCOCO-STYLE LEAF CARVED MIRROR,19th century, red bole, water gilding. With well-carved leaves forming monumental C- and S-scrolls enclosing spiral-twisted rectangular frame with acanthus-leaf center and corner mounts - 65 in. x 52 1/2 in. x 4 in. Estimate $3,500-4,500
PROVENANCE: Purchased from Pia Migliorini, Galleria Antiquaria, Rome, Italy in October 20th, 1986.
The mirror survives in good condition. As one would expect, we found evidence of prior restoration to the ornamental leaves composing the surround. We further believe the glass has been replaced at one time.
