PAIR JAPANESE LACQUER SAKE CASKS (SASHIDARN), Edo period, 19th century. Rectangular with wide flat shoulder and narrow cylindrical spout; spout base chrysanthemum stoppers; with gilt bushy-tailed tortoise and crane mon, with storage box: 15 3/8 in. x 15 1/2 in.; together with brown lacquered wood picnic set (sage jubako), circa 1850, yellow tinted clear lacquer over the wood grain, two tier stacking tray with four covered food boxes, rectangular tray, container and an ash bowl: 10 1/2 in x 9 3/8 in. x 9 1/4 in.
