FRENCH EGYPTIAN REVIVAL BRONZE DORÉ AND MARBLE MANTLE CLOCK AND GARNITURE. Circa 1875; works marked S. Marti et Cie, Medaille de Bronze. Temple form clock in black marble, the surface with applied pilasters carved with hieroglyphics, flanking dial with Roman numerals, surmounted by bronze doré figure of Assyrian bull; accompanied by pair black marble obelisks, carved with hieroglyphic relief decoration - 20 1/4 in. x 13 3/4 x 6 1/2 in., clock; 19 1/2 in. high, obelisks. Estimate $3,000-5,000 Clock not tested to keep time. Edges of marble pieces with tiny chips and flea bites. The statue''s gilding is original, with areas of wear. The hieroglyphics on the clock and garniture are medium crisp to crisp. The variation is difficult to make out in the photo.
