Heavy varnish, fine craquelure. Some minor losses and flaking at extreme edges. Few fine cracks along bottom edge with lifting/flaking pigment. Light surface scratch to right of head, few thin vertical cracks in area of nose and mouth. Some surface dirt and debris. UV: Varnish makes detection difficult, but some inpainting along all edges, in his cheek and elsewhere in face (some old, some more recent) some minor scattered dots in clothing. Possible older restoration in background.
