The San Diego Museum of Natural History featured a month long exhibition titled "Spirit in Stone" in 2003. Newsweek Magazine referred to Shona sculpture as "the most important new art form to emerge from Africa in the last hundred years". Shona sculpture can be found in the permanent collections of many museums including The London Museum of Contemporary Art and The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
