With 12 engravings by Mme. Jourdan, after Mme de Pompadour. Soulavie attributes the fall of the French monarchy and the Revolution to the corruptive influence of Mme de Pompadour, calling her the "plague that brought down a great and powerful nation", an interesting choice for the library of the Prince of Wales, later George IV, at Carleton House. 8vo, full tan speckled calf
