Paper size is 21 in. x 27 in., not laid down. Paper darkened within mat opening, some lighter patches along edge where earlier hinges were; pin hole in top left margin reinforced with paper tape. Also 1/2 in. tear and pinhole at bottom right edge. Reverse showing burning from earlier backing, and pencil inscription, " For Mr. Arthur J. Paul / Mountain Lakes N.J. / August 1919 / This is a companion piece / to the summer scene / American Country Life / Was Uncle Daniel Pickering Pauls''s / bought at his marriage 1869."
