PAIR EDGAR BRANDT BRONZE "COBRA" SCONCES.Circa 1925, stamped E. Brandt. The heads supporting later opalescent glass shades, unmarked - 35 1/2 in. high. Estimate $8,000-12,000
In overall excellent condition.
Sconces have been electrified thus the nozzle has been modified and four small metal loops have been added on the base of the neck to secure the wiring. These are easily removed.
These have a crisp casting. The patination is rich and consistent with age. The signature is located on one sconce only, and is found on the back of the body.
The later shades have chips along the foot, more pronounced on one of them.
