PROVENANCE: These plates were issued in 1933, the 50th reunion year at West Point of West Point's Class of 1883, the first post-Civil War class of appointed cadets to include Southerners. General John W. Heard was a member of that class (General Heard's father was an officer in the Confederacy); he won the Medal of Honor in the Spanish American War and was an officer of the 3rd Calvalry. His wife, Mildred Jewell Townsend Heard acquired the plates and they were passed to his son, General Townsend Heard, after her death in 1946.
The set is in overall excellent condition. Each plate with crazing. There are no chips, hairlines or repairs.
