Arching tablet-form back with painted angel back and front panels; flat-top arms have scrolling hand rests; D-form seat with painted inscription in French (translates to "Please sit down"); baluster turned arm supports; ring-turned block and baluster legs with similar front stretcher; H-stretcher base; on ball feet - 37 1/2 in. x 23 1/4 in. x 16 3/4 in. Mid 20th century paint on earlier frames. These Provincetown, MA, treasures are in good condition, with old restoration on one arm (near back joint). Other chair has similar issue (no yet restored). Chairs can be re-glued and improved on without too much expense; we can recommend our cabinet maker who has seen the pieces.
