NOTE: In 1607 Cigoli painted the Ecce Homo, now in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence, for the Roman nobleman Massimo Massimi, who had commissioned three artists - Cigoli, Passignano and Carvaggio - to paint a depiction of the suffering Christ being presented to the people by Pontius Pilate. Massimi preferred Cigoli's to the two others, and retained it for his collection.
