JOHN SMITH OF CHESTER GEORGIAN MAHOGANY TALL-CASE CLOCK. Circa 1755. Broken arch hood with centered brass finial; decorative inlay on mahogany case; 14 1/2 inch square brass dial with cherub head brass spandrels, matted floral engraved center dial; silvered chapter ring with Roman hour markers, Arabic minute markers on outer edge; silvered seconds dial with brass center and engraved flower; black steel hands of the period, pointer for seconds hand; maker 'John Smith of Chester' engraved above the 6 o'clock mark; John Smith of Chester worked in Foregate Street from 1750 until 1790 - 88 in. high.
