AMERICAN BLUE-SLIP DECORATED STONEWARE CROCK BY H.C. SMITH, ALEXANDRIA, 19th century; incised H.C. Smith, Alexa, DC. One side decorated with large floral spray, the reverse with three flowers along the rim - 13 in. high.

One of the handles has a chip on each end. There is a large but faint Y-shaped hairline on the back side of the crock.
