An upstate New York estate

Carmel Snow was the influential and innovative Editor-in-Chief of Harper's Bazaar from 1934-1957. Under her direction, the magazine expanded its scope to include art, fiction, and reportage, in addition to serving as a progressive style resource for women. Cultivating the careers of well-known authors, photographers, and fashion designers--from Truman Capote to Christian Dior to Man Ray--Snow is credited with revolutionizing modern culture. In the present lot, offered for the benefit of the National Christ Child Society, Bethesda, MD, we are granted a rare glimpse of Snow by celebrated portraitist and fashion photographer, Richard Avedon.
