Time and strike spring-driven brass movement; porcelain dial with Roman hour markers, signed "Deniere, Ft de Bronzes, Paris"; movement stamped with "BR' 'Deniere a Paris 3342'; Deniere was renowned studio of French Bronziers that were suppliers to the Royal French Court, and one of finest Paris clockmakers who was clockmaker to King Louis XVI; two gilt bronze putti adorn top of clock, both seated amid grape clusters and leaves, one holding grapes, one blowing into conch shell; medallions of gilt flowers flanking clock dial; rectangular marble base with rounded ends decorated with gilt bronze, supported on six large ormolu bun feet; a very heavy clock. - 16 in. x 22 1/2 in.
