FINE GEORGE III SILVER-MOUNTED INLAID IVORY AND TORTOISESHELL TEA CADDY. late 18th century. Shaped upright rectangular, with ten sides; ivory panels, with tortoiseshell banding; the hinged cover with hallmarked silver C-scroll handle surrounded by inlaid mother-of-pearl star motif; the front panel centered with silver-mounted blue and white jasperware classical medallion, surrounded by inlaid silver and mother-of-pearl swag; silver escutcheon and plaque for monogram. The single compartment interior with silvered paper lining; conforming interior cover - 4 in. x 4 1/4 in. x 2 3/4 in.

In overall good condition. There are cracks in the ivory throughout consistent with age and material. There are minor losses along edges of mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell inlay. The interior is in original condition. The exterior has been conserved with French polish.
