PROVENANCE: Purchased in Philadelphia by John Sellers of Sellers Hall, Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
Born in 1728, John Sellers was a member of the Pennsylavania Provincial Assembly and a deputy for Chester County for the 1774 Convention. During the Revolutionary War, Mr. Sellers was appointed by Congress to sign the paper currency issued during the war. In 1790 he was elected to the Senate. He died in 1804.
