SCHOOLGIRL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER. worked by Sarah Marriott, June 1, 1825. The top section with alphabet and number rows, over three flowering trees; centered with a verse reading "O! May I always ready stand, With my Lamp burning in my Hand, May I in sight of Heaven rejoice, When e'er I hear the Bridegrooms voice"; the bottom section with several depictions of flowering trees and birds; the whole within a strawberry border. Worked in polychrome silk threads, on a linen ground. Framed - 14 1/4 in. x 9 1/2 in.

There are scattered holes on the bottom left corner and border throughout. Overall fading and yellowing consistent with age
