ELIZABETH SUTTON. (American, early 19th century). THE NEW INN, signed and titled on a sign on the front of the Inn. Oil on canvas mounted on masonite - Framed, 23 1/2 in. x 18 in.

There are also signs on the front of building stating: "ELIZABETH SUTTON, DEALER IN FOREIGN SPIRITUOUS LIQUORS" and below that sign two signs left to right stating: "NEW INN" and "NEAT WINES." A customer riding a horse is entering the side entrance to New Inn. A rare and early piece of American folk art depicting a Federal brick business building, possibly from Connecticut.
