JAPANESE KAMAKURA-BORI TSUBA, Muromachi period, circa 1500. Rounded rectangular iron plate carved on the surface with a dragon on both sides with inlaid eyes, raised rim, probably made for the Chinese market. Together with a ko-tosho-style tsuba, late Muromachi period (16th century), the quatrefoil iron plate with a tsuchime surface and pierced with a geometric design, possibly depicting a stylized dragon. - 3 1/4 in. diam.

PROVENANCE: Donated by Asian Cultural Exchange Foundation to The Roland Park Country School on November 14,1980.
