Depicting Jesus, at left, rejected by the Jewish High Priest, the Elders and the people of Jerusalem when brought before Pontius Pilate for judgment. Pilate, arm outstretched towards Christ, is soliciting the rulers and people on his behalf, but the High Priest, both arms outstretched in the center, exclaims "Away with him!". Behind the High Priest is a throng of people insulting Christ and in the foreground Mary Magdalene lies on the cross, which will be used to crucify him.
