Certificate on bottom of base executed by Appel and his collaborators, Editions Press, San Francisco, CA, and states, among other things, that "THIS IS AN ORIGINAL MULTIPLE WOOD SCULPTURE BY KAREL APPEL CONSTRUCTED BY EDITIONS PRESS OF SAN FRANCISCO. EACH WORK HAS BEEN HAND PAINTED BY THE ARTIST AND SIGNED BY THE ARTIST." The certificate lists the sculpture's title and states that it is one of a limited numbered edition of 50, plus 15 additional sculptures, consisting of seven Artist's Proofs reserved for the artist, seven H.C. proofs reserved for the Collaborators and one Museum proof, totalling 65. This sculpture is a number "HC" for one of the seven H.C. proofs reserved for the Collaborators. Finally, the certificate lists the eight Hyplar acrylic paint colors used by Appel to paint the sculptures and indicates that he mixed a number of the eight Hyplar colors "To Achieve Variant Colors."
