PRE-COLUMBIAN CHANCAY PAINTED TEXTILE. Peru 800-1100 AD. Large woven cotton textile rectangular panel painted in muted shades of brown on a light beige background. Depicting a large standing shaman, wearing a zoomorphic headdress consisting of a double-headed snake, with birds, fish snakes and other symbols covering the field, with geometric panels at the sides. - 27 1/2 in. x 60 1/2 in.
