AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY OX-BOW SLANT-FRONT DESK. Massachusetts, c. 1760-1765. Slant front opens to stepped writing compartment fitted with fan-carved prospect drawer over shorter drawer, flanked by pair of letter slides with applied half-column ornamentation, all centered by six arcaded pigeonholes over two aligned drawers, further surmounting three aligned narrow drawers; brass knob handle; four graduated case drawers within cockbeaded frame; bail-handle, brass batwing pulls, original and of substantial size; molded base edge above carved central ornament; large carved claw-and-ball feet. - 44 1/2 in. x 45 in. x 23 3/4 in.
