VICTORIAN MAHOGANY BREAKFRONT SECRETARY, American, 19th Century. Breakfront secretary in two parts. Top cabinet having two glazed doors opening to three shelves. Lower cabinet having one long carved drawer over two doors, also opening to shelves. Long drawer opens to a leather writing surface, two banks of drawers flanking five compartments. - 84" high x 47 1/2" wide x 19 3/4" deep.
Estimate $500-650

Top cabinet: Has three shelves, appearing to be original. Areas of loss to moulding on bottom left corner to right door. Key is present, but lock/door hinges need adjustment to work well.

Lower cabinet: Long drawer a bit sticky, opens and drops to reveal leather writing surface in good condition. The two banks of drawers flanking center compartments are in good condition, aside from lacking one ebonized pull. Lock original, again adjustments needed to make the key work well. Top of lower cabinet having a split to the corner, easily restorable. Back panels appear original. Nothing appears to have been cut down or altered.
Patina is very nice on this piece. All keys appear to be replacements and hinges all require a bit of adjustment for them to work well.
