WILLIAM MCKINLEY TOBY PITCHER. American, Late 19th Century. William McKinley is depicted on this pitcher in a Napoleon-style hat and sitting on a throne-like chair. Draped over his lap is the McKinley Bill, a tariff act he sponsored as a Congressman and which lasted only a short while before Democrats fiercely opposed to tariffs replaced the bill with a more free market policy. On either side of the pitcher's base are key words from McKinley's doctrine, Prosperity and Protection; and on the back, the campaign year 1896. - 8 3/4" high x 7" deep.
Estimate $400-600

Good condition, with one chip on the handle edge, crazing and an underglaze hairline crack to the rim of his hat.

Sold for $375
