Bonnet having molded domed pediment over conforming glazed door centered by iconic columns, revealing brass dial with signed chapter ring having black enamel roman numerals, pierced iron hands, pierced and cast corner spendrels surmounted by relief dolphin spandrels centered roundel engraved 'tempus fugit'; domed waist door; rectangular base raised on plinith. Chinoiserie decorated in red and gilt with figures in pavilion landscapes, a pair of cocks in a rocky landscape and scrolling vines.
Thomas Kefford, was a noted English clockmaker doing business at The Dial, Fore Street, Royston, Hertfordshire from 1710-1770. He produced both thirty hour and eight day longcase clocks. - 88 1/2" high x 18" wide x 8 3/4" deep. Estimate $2,500-3,000
