PAIR OF GILTWOOD FRAMED BOTANICAL ENGRAVINGS, JOHANN WILHELM WEINMANN. Johann Wilhelm Weinmann (German, 1683 -1741), Published Amsterdam & Ratisbon, 1736-45. Two giltwood framed, of the period engravings, from Weinmann's Phytanthoza Iconographia, the volume depicting a nearly complete record of the flowers, fruits and vegetables which were cultivated in the early 18th Century. The images are among the earliest examples of color printing from a single plate. Consisting of Plate 53, Aloe Americana tuberosa yuccae foliis, and Plate 242, Beta alba, Poiree blanc. Image size: 12 3/4" high x 8 1/2" wide. Professionally framed with matboard, uv plexiglass and giltwood moulding. - Image size: 12 3/4" high x 8 1/2" wide. Framed: 20 1/8" high x 15 5/8" wide.
