FRAMED MID-18TH CENTURY PIRANESI ETCHING, THE TOMB OF NERO FROM THE GROTESQUES SERIES, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Italian (1720 - 1778) . Mid-18th Century. Framed, of the period, etching depicting Nero's tomb, marked to right Piranesi dir impelto l'Accademia di Francia in Roma and number 26 and to left, Piranesi invento ed incise; framed in recent black with silver leaf moulding with silk mat. Most likely from the second edition. - Plate size: 15 1/4" high x 21 1/2" wide. Framed: 25 3/8" high x 31 1/4" wide.

Minor crease to center associated with having been bound. Minor toning to the sheet. Not examined out of frame. The framing is recent and of high quality.
