First edition, first issue with the Doubleday imprint on title page and the numeral "1" in date on copyright page appearing in unbroken type. With another copy -- in the similar green cloth binding, to which a device depicting the globe spanned by a pair of linked hands added to the front panel. This copy has the New York imprint of "The Jungle Publishing Co." It also has an identical date on the recto and verso of the title page (but with worn type on that numeral "1").
