[HOMOSEXUAL LITERATURE] PORCHE, FRANCOIS,L'Amour Qui N'ose pas Dire son Nom. Paris: Bernard Grasset, 1927. Contemporary black half morocco. An attractive copy, despite the inevitable toning of the cheap paper used in printed this first edition. A scarce and early study of homosexuality, taking its title from a phrase from the poem "Two Loves" by Lord Alfred Douglas, -- ("The love that dare not speak its name") -- published in 1894. It was mentioned at Oscar Wilde's gross indecency trial in 1894, and has since that time been used as a stand in for homosexuality, (even though Oscar Wilde implausibly denied, at his trial, that this was true). PROVENANCE: Estate of Jim Graham, former Washington, DC, Councilman Estimate $60-90
