PAIR OF CIRCA 1977 REPRODUCTIONS OF JOHN F. KENNEDY ROCKING CHAIRS AS DESIGNED BY LAWRENCE J. ARATA, WHITE HOUSE STAFF, Made for Edward Mitchell. Circa 1977. Brass plate to back of one. Wooden rocking chairs with rush seats and backrest, both with custom made naugahyde cushions in brown and cream. Arm rests to both with upholstered cushions glued to armrests. Remainder of cushions are easily removable. Rocking chair with brown upholstery with brass plate mounted to upholstery back rest inscribed as follows: "Exact copy of authentic custom upholstered President John F. Kennedy's rocker, crafted for him by Lawrence J. Arata, White House Staff and duplicated for Edward Mitchell, August 23, 1977." (2 total) - H: 43 3/8 in. x W: 28 in. x D: 27 in.

The upholstered cushions with wear. The brown chair's armrests with traces of old tape and residue to temporary stabilize splits to the upholstery. The upholstery suffers from some mustiness related to long term storage. One of the frames of the rockers with a small area of loss to base. The rush to both seats and backs is in very good condition.
